It sounded like a mid/late-90s Grand Prix.

Much like this one:

No wonder there is “Boo” in its name.

LONG LIVE V8’s

They sound like crap, but supposedly that helps a lot with power. For whatever reason, they used the standard sized exhaust on the Ecoboost, which restricted flow.

This would be one instance where I would welcome artificial sound tuning to make it sound like a V8.

So you’re telling me a ~3.5l V6 sounds like a ~3.8L V6?

Shocking.

But really it is just an epidemic of poor exhaust design

Yeah, it’s just unnatural to my ear to see a full size truck and hear a mid-sized V6.

Yeah, I’ve seen a couple of YouTube videos addressing this.

If rather have the stock mufflers on.

Yes exhaust helps, but new large diameter downpipes really free things up.

with factory everything livernois is promising +70 HP and +90 ft/lbs of torque for the SHO with just a tune. 435 and 440 out of a 3.5l is awesome!

They are getting 4400lbs SHO’s to do 11’s in the quarter.

I cant wait to see these engines in a Fox Body.

Yeah, with proper resonators and mufflers it wouldn’t sound so bad, but those cost money and aren’t as loud.

I actually don’t mind the sound of most V6’s, but the Ecoboost usually doesn’t sound that good.

Also, the Boostang sounds like a fartcanned civic.

Me either, it’s just weird to me to have a full size truck sound like that.

I haven’t heard one yet. Have to check it out.

If I got an F-150, I’d have a hard time deciding between a 2.7 Ecoboost or the 5.0. That Coyote V8 just sounds sooo good.

Unless there’s a significant efficiency increase by going smaller (a la EcoDiesel), I’m going to pick the V8 every time.

Yeah, I don’t know if there is. The 3.5 isn’t certainly any more efficient than the V8. The only real advantage of the 3.5 is the ridiculous power you can get with a tune and exhaust (not like that is a terrible thing of course)

I think a fart canned Honda sounds better, a Eco stang blasts by my work most days it's the most annoying sound I've ever heard from a car

I don’t care what anyone says, V6s generally sound terrible.
